Comprehensive Diagnosis

We emphasize an accurate diagnosis at the outset to save unnecessary prolonged medical care and expensive treatments.

Success without surgery

We deploy a multitude of noninvasive options to treat most of our patients without the need for interventional pain management or surgical intervention. Noninvasive approaches include medication management, rehabilitation, and physical and occupational therapy.

Latest surgical techniques for a quicker and less painful recovery

In the event that surgery is required, we use the latest techniques, including minimally invasive surgery, to minimize patient discomfort and shorten the recovery period.  Many of these surgeries are performed using dime-sized incisions.

Noninvasive Options

The vast majority of patients can be effectively treated with anti-inflammatories and rehabilitation. We have great success in treating our patients with a multi-modality approach, including a formal evaluation with an experienced physical therapist. A customized treatment plan is formulated and supervised by one of our staff physicians. The treatment can include traction, core stretching and strengthening, and teaching patients to observe proper body mechanics. Often a home program is also instituted to ensure that patients sustain the benefits from this therapy. We offer a comprehensive, state-of-the-art rehabilitation center to all of our patients.

Pain Management

In some cases, patients may benefit from injections, such as epidural steroid injections. These are quite effective for the short-term treatment radiculopathy (arm or leg pain) secondary to nerve compression.

Minimally-Invasive

We are now able to offer many minimally invasive procedures to patients who disrupt minimal amounts of tissue. Microdiscectomy can now be performed through dime-sized incisions with many patients going home a few hours after the procedure. The operating microscope allows excellent visualization of the anatomy thereby dramatically decreasing the risks of these procedures. Lumbar and Cervical fusions can also be done through minimally invasive techniques that lead to quicker recovery.

Surgical Treatment

Surgical treatments are considered only after conservative and minimally invasive treatment options have failed. Spine Care Specialists is unique in its approach towards planning and performing each surgery – this approach has been tailored with a view to ensuring the best outcomes for our patients. Both our spine surgeons are involved in each case starting with a pre-operative conference about the surgical case. Every surgical procedure is performed with two board-certified, fellowship-trained spine surgeons. This reduces the operative time needed for each procedure, lowers the complication rate, and decreases the post-operative recovery period.
